"If you want to see change in your life, pray the Rosary," a Catholic sister once told me. At a very young age, I endured many difficulties. At my wit's end, and nowhere to turn, I decided that I should take the Sister's advice. Praying the Rosary has brought my family peace.
For many years, the dream of creating rosaries and sharing this peaceful tool continued to tug at my heart. During that time, I encountered people who offered to teach me how to make them. Unfortunately, with the pandemic and people keeping their distance, I was unable to take them up on their offer. I decided to give it a try and started creating rosaries in 2022. I'd never seen rosaries like the ones we wanted to create. Sharing this love for praying the Rosary is so exciting for me. The advice that was shared with me many years ago has changed my life. 12 words to change my life and potentially those of the whole world as I pray it brings others understanding and peace.
My husband and I hand craft our rosaries, choosing each piece to create a beautiful one of a kind tool for your praying meditation.
We have committed to donate a portion of each rosary bought to our parish San Jose Church, in Austin Tx.
When one of these rosaries is created, it brings me great joy. I think of the love and prayer intentions that will be spoken with the rosary, the tears that are shed for loved ones while meditating on it's promises, the love spoken to God while walking with Jesus through his life along with reciting the mysteries and the glory given to God for all of the answered prayers. Praying the Rosary is like using that one special form of technology to call/text your loved one, keeping you connected to who matters most. It's one way to reach Jesus through his mother's voice. As I meditate on the rosary, I ask myself, "Who should we intercede for today?" While praying, I'm reminded that Mary brings others to her son during different situations. For instance, she walked with him in her tummy and brought him to her cousin Elizabeth. Elizabeth at that moment was filled with the Spirit of God. Another example would be when she brings Jesus to help out at a wedding. She wants her Son to bring joy into the world and bring joy to you and me. Each bead, with its unique color shade and texture, joins me to specific prayer intentions as each prayer is special.
Every time I hear the chain hit the beads, it reminds me of the connection we have from Heaven and Earth as we are not far apart.
We have been together for over 20 years. The greatest years of our relationship have been the last 5 years while married through the Catholic church. We met as teenagers, had 3 beautiful children, and by the time we knew it, they were all teens themselves. We decided to marry through the church because we wanted holiness for each other. We really wanted to help each other get to heaven.
We are parishioners at San Jose Catholic church in Austin, Tx, which is our home away from home. Here, we have gained an extended family, our big church family.
It hasn't always been this way. Before, we would have probably been called cafeteria catholics. We would jump around a lot to different churches. We never helped out at church and would attend mass when we wanted to attend.
The San Jose church community welcomed us with open arms, helped us grow together as a married couple, and helped us serve God through different ministries in the church. Together, we serve as greeters for mass, ushers, and Eucharist ministers.
My husband and I have learned to work together and help to teach the younger generation about God in religious education.
Some other ministries we are a part of are the Jamaica committee, Rosary ministry, and the Prepare Enrich program for newly engaged couples.
Serving together as one has been a blessing. As a couple and getting to know God better, we embrace the invitation to serve our community as there are countless opportunities to share our love for God.
